The Niskayuna Momsí Group strives to connect moms, help build community, and have fun. Most of the interactions between moms, kids, and families are geared toward getting people together in-person.
Board members take the lead for planning, but all members are encouraged to plan events. Activities for kids include playgroups at the Niskayuna Community Center during the school year and meet-ups at playgrounds and other local kid-friendly venues year-round. Other activities provide opportunities for adults-only interaction such as Momsí Night Out and Book Discussions. Families have a chance to mingle at picnics in the spring and fall.
Most of the members live in Schenectady County, New York, though some hail from surrounding parts of the Capital Region. The membership includes a mix of new and veteran moms, full-time stay-at-home moms, and part-time and full-time working moms. Some of the moms grew up in the area, whereas some have just moved here recently. The majority of membersí kids are 0-5 years old, though siblings are welcome at events.
